Outer Worship Hall / Fushimi Inari Taisha
The outer worship hall of Fushimi Inari Taisha is located in front of the main gate and is the first shrine building visitors see. It is said to have been built in 1589 during the Azuchi-Momoyama period and reconstructed in 1840. In 2014, it was designated a National Important Cultural Property. The outer hall of worship is mainly used for rituals and worship services, especially during the Inari Festival's Shinko Matsuri held from April to May, when five portable shrines are enshrined here. It is also the center of many rituals and events, such as the bean-throwing ceremony during the Setsubun Festival. Behind the outer hall of worship are the inner hall of worship and the main hall of worship, and worshippers enter the main hall of worship through the outer hall of worship and the inner hall of worship.
