Ōkuninushi-sha / Yasaka Shrine
The "Ōkuninushi-sha" of Yasaka Shrine is one of the auxiliary shrines within its precincts, dedicated to Ōkuninushi-no-Mikoto. He is a deity from Izumo mythology, revered as the god of nation-building and good relationships. Many people visit this shrine seeking blessings for prosperous business and successful relationships. Historically, Yasaka Shrine has been deeply respected as the guardian deity of Kyoto, and Ōkuninushi-sha, as part of it, has also received the prayers of countless worshippers. Although Ōkuninushi-no-Mikoto is primarily worshipped at Izumo Taisha, his divine virtues are widely revered at Yasaka Shrine as well. Ōkuninushi-no-Mikoto is also famous for the legend of the "White Hare of Inaba," which symbolizes kindness and compassion. As a result, this shrine is not only visited for matchmaking but also for prayers for household safety and business success. Although the structure of the shrine is relatively small, visitors continuously come to offer their prayers. It is believed that visiting Ōkuninushi-sha after paying respects at the main hall of Yasaka Shrine enhances one's blessings. Many worshippers make their way to this sacred site, offering their silent prayers with deep reverence.
