Thinker by Auguste Rodin / Kyoto National Museum
A statue of “The Thinker” by French sculptor Auguste Rodin is installed in front of the Meiji Ancient Capital of Kyoto National Museum. The statue was deposited by a private collector in 1950 and became a national property in 1956. The Thinker was originally created as part of Rodin's great work “The Gates of Hell,” but later came to be highly regarded as an independent work. It blends harmoniously with the Western-style architecture of the Kyoto National Museum's Meiji Ancient Capital Building and leaves a deep impression on visitors.
