Honmaru Japanese garden / Osaka Castle

The Japanese garden, located in the Honmaru of Osaka Castle, was created in 1931 in conjunction with the reconstruction of the castle tower. This garden was originally created as a garden for the Kishu Palace, which was moved from the Ninomaru area of Wakayama Castle, and is a purely Japanese-style garden with a pond and a circular path around it. The central pond is a crane-wing shape with an area of about 300 tsubo (about 1,860 m2), and a hill is placed in the background. Especially from the south side of the pond, visitors can enjoy a beautiful view with the castle tower in the background. Kishu Goten was destroyed by fire in 1947, but the garden remains today, offering visitors a seasonal view.
