Genbudo Museum is located at the entrance to Genbudo Park in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture.The museum was opened in 1972 and reopened in 2018. The museum displays more than 2,500 minerals, fossils, gems, and odd stones collected from all over the world, making it one of the largest stone museums in Hyogo Prefecture. Of particular interest are rare minerals such as amazonite and Inca rose, and a full-body skeleton of a tyrannosaurus. The museum also exhibits Toyooka kiryu-zaiku, a traditional craft of Toyooka, and introduces its history and techniques. The museum also offers a wide variety of hands-on activities, such as mineral/jewelry, fossil, and basket weaving, providing visitors with a wide range of learning and enjoyment opportunities. Visitors can enjoy meals prepared with local ingredients at the restaurant inside the museum store while enjoying the beautiful view of the Maruyama River. Access is conveniently provided by a 7-minute ferry ride from Genbudo Station on the JR Sanin Honsen Line or a 10-minute drive from Kinosaki Onsen. Genbudo Museum is a spot where visitors can learn deeply about the mysterious world of stones and Toyooka's culture through a variety of experiences such as seeing, learning, touching, and eating.
