

Shinkyoden / Daikakuji Temple
Shinkyoden is a building located within the precincts of Daikakuji Temple in Saga-Osawa-cho, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto, and was constructed in 1925 to house dedicated copies of the Hannya Shingyo (Heart Sutra). The building is a one-story reinforced concrete structure modeled after a wooden octagonal circular hall, with a copper-sheet roof and a building area of 31 square meters. It was designed by Atsuji Fujii, one of the leading residential architects of the early Showa period, and is valuable as his non-residential work. Shinkyoden was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property (building) on January 16, 1998.
