Gassho-no-Yado Magoemon / Shirakawa-go
"Gassho-no-Yado Magoemon" is an inn located in the Gassho-style village of Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built in the late Edo period, this building has a history of about 200 years and embodies the traditional Gassho-zukuri architecture, reflecting the wisdom and ingenuity of our ancestors. In Shirakawa-go, the spirit of mutual assistance, known as "Yui," is cherished. Our inn has been passed down through generations, undergoing repairs with the help of many people. Guests can stay in this historic Gassho-style house, which features an irori (traditional hearth), massive beams and pillars, and smooth wooden corridors, all evoking the charm of bygone days. We also offer local cuisine made with regional ingredients, including the famous Hida beef and homegrown rice and vegetables. We invite you to experience the warmth of the people and the beauty of Gassho-zukuri architecture at "Magoemon."
