Otorii / Fushimi Inari Taisha
The “Otorii” of Fushimi Inari Taisha not only serves as the gateway to the Shinto shrine, but also symbolizes the history and culture of Fushimi Inari Taisha. The current Otorii was rebuilt in 1959, and was constructed using reinforced concrete instead of wood. The 16-meter high and 10-meter wide Otorii is painted in a vivid vermilion color, which is believed to symbolize holiness and the power to ward off evil in the Inari faith.
