The Otemon Gate of Himeji Castle was the most prestigious and strictly constructed three-story gate as the main entrance to the castle. The large Koraimon Gate, now known as “Otemon,” was constructed in 1938 and differs greatly in position and size from the Edo Period gate. This gate serves as the main entrance and exit to the castle and is symbolic of welcoming visitors.
