The Toson Shimazaki Literature Monument / Kinosaki Onsen
The Toson Shimazaki Literature Monument is one of 24 literary monuments scattered throughout the Kinosaki hot spring resort. In 1927, at the request of the Osaka Asahi Shimbun newspaper, Toson traveled from Kinosaki Hot Springs to Tsuwano in Shimane Prefecture, and wrote a serialized account of his trip entitled “San'in Souvenirs. This literary monument was erected in 1981 to commemorate the 8th National Conference of the Shimazaki Toson Study Group held in Kinosaki Town. The monument bears the following inscription from the first part of Toson's travelogue “Sanin Souvenir. It was the eighth day of July when I departed from my lodgings in Osaka, while the morning sky was still clear and cloudy.
